The only synagogue still in use in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county is the one in the county seat, Miskolc. The Neo-Romanesque building was designed by Ludwig Förster, the architect of the Dohány street synagoge in Budapest, and was built between 1856 and 1863. Despite its run-down romance, the building is still a true witness to the magnificent past of the Jewish community, which once was one of the richest in the country outside Budapest. Walk through the building to learn about the past and the present of the Miskolc Jewish community.
