Its favourable geographical location and significance as a trade centre made Nagykanizsa attractive to the Hungarian Jewry. The growing Jewish community built a synagogue in Nagykanizsa. The Classicist building could only be placed on the inside of the lot owned by the community, as the regulations at the time did not allow for synagogues to be built on the street front. The synagogue, which has by now fallen into disrepair, had the 200th anniversary of its completion in 2021. Walk around the building, and learn about the past and the present of the Nagykanizsa Jewish community.
